Replacing the injectors

Damaged injectors can disrupt the combustion processes and, as a result, destroy the bushings. If "ringing."” engine, then loosen the cap nuts of the injection lines and observe them, if the ringing noise disappears while idling”. The disappearance of this phenomenon after unscrewing one of the nuts will indicate a damaged injector

Another way to find a faulty injector is to unscrew the cap nuts with the engine running at faster idle speed.. If the engine speed does not change after loosening the nut, it means damage to a given injector. More detailed checking of the injector requires measuring the injection pressure on a suitable instrument. The first symptoms of injector malfunction are:

– "Ringing" in one or more cylinders,

– engine overheating, power drop.

- burn black from the exhaust pipe.

- increased fuel consumption.

Removal of the injectors consists in the following steps.

■ Clean injection lines with oil, then disconnect from pump and injectors.

■ Pull off the overflow lines and unscrew the injector base,

■ Remove the lock washer, a heat insulating sleeve and a copper gasket.

■ Fix the injector base in a vice with the jaws made of soft metal. Disassemble the injector.

■ Check, that the needle seat is smooth and undamaged and that the needle tip is not worn or damaged. Clean the spray holes with a wooden stick

■ Never clean the sprayer and needle with a wire, with a file or sandpaper The injectors should be cleaned one by one, to avoid the possibility of swapping needles and nozzles

■ When inserted into the seat, the needle must be lowered by its own weight and be able to move without jamming.

■ Attach the injector body to the base.

■ Place a new gasket in the hole of the head under the injector, then insert the heat insulating sleeve, smaller diameter down. Put the copper gasket on the sleeve.

■ Insert the shaped washer into the bushing.

■ Screw the injector into the cylinder head (tightening torque 70 N m m).

■ Connect fuel lines, Tighten the cap nut using the torque 25 N m m.
