Gearbox service

Gearbox service.
The operation of the gearbox is limited to checking the level, refilling and changing oil, and to observe its operation while driving and visual inspection before and after work. The gear lube level in the gearbox should reach the filler hole, which is also a control hole. The filler opening is usually located on the side of the box housing. The oil level should be checked during each periodic service and, if necessary, topped up with the same type of oil, which is in the gearbox.
When visual inspection of the gearbox at a standstill and after returning to the garage, pay attention to the tightness of connections of the housing and covers. The tightness of connections is also checked before washing the car, because then any leaks are more clearly visible. During short breaks in work, the temperature of the gearbox casing should also be checked by touching with the hand. Strong heating of the housing indicates that the gearbox is in a poor technical condition.
