Principles of technical service and work safety.
The basic condition for the technical efficiency of replacement tools is to restore the proper sharpness of the working parts of these tools by grinding. Damaged harrow teeth, cultivators and discs of disc harrows, if they cannot be repaired, must be replaced with new ones. At the end of the working season, the working parts working in the soil should be covered with a thin layer of grease. The bearings of the tilling tools work under very difficult conditions. These bearings should be lubricated twice per shift. During operation, the cultivation tools should be checked, that all working parts work at the same depth and do not leave bypass in the field.
Such treatments, like harrowing and trimming, it is best to do diagonal to the plowing direction. To do this, divide the field into rectangles, and make subsequent runs along the diagonals of these rectangles. Such harrowing will spray the soil less, and moreover, it avoids multiple relapses in one place. During cultivation, the working parts should be raised to the transport position on the headlands, to prevent them from being damaged. It is forbidden to sit on the couplings and frames of the tilling tools during work. Cleaning of weeds and soil from moving parts can only be done with scrapers on long handles. During transport, the suspended tools should be secured against falling. Trailed implements rest on their own wheels during transport or are transported on trailers (e.g. trailed harrows). Detailed remarks on work safety and operation of appropriate machines and tools used for the cultivation of the soil are included in their operating instructions.
