Replacing the crankshaft rear seal – Opel Kadett

Replacing the crankshaft rear seal

Replace the rear seal, more particularly, the crankshaft seal ring can be performed without removing the engine from the vehicle. However, the clutch and flywheel must be removed, as described in the relevant chapters.

To replace the sealing ring, the Opel-469 multi-piece special tool must be available. The new ring is pressed into the seat with the appropriate pusher. If we don't have a special tool, in order to remove the old sealing ring, use a punch to make a mark in the center of the ring cover and screw in a sheet metal screw in this place. By grasping the sheet metal screw with the pliers, the ring is pulled out of its seat. The sealing lip must be filled with grease in the new ring. The ring is pressed onto the shaft end with a properly selected sleeve, and from to support.
