Oil pump replacement and inspection (engine 1,2)

■ Remove the oil pan

■ Remove the bolts securing the oil pump, using a polygon L-key.

■ Unscrew the bolts securing the pump cover and lift off the cover.

■ A pressure reducing valve is located on the side below the screw plug. After unscrewing the plug, remove the gasket, take out the ball and spring, wash all parts.

■ All parts must fit easily into place. Checking the oil pressure regulating valve is then required, when the oil pressure warning light comes on while driving.

■ Remove the gears from the pump housing and wash with petrol. After inserting the washed wheels, measure the tooth play with a feeler gauge, which should be 0.10…0,20 Mm. Place a straight edge on the front face of the wheels and use a feeler gauge to determine the distance to the cover, which should be 0,04 . 0.10 Mm. The worn pump cover must be replaced. Thoroughly coat all moving parts with engine oil and reassemble. Place a new gasket under the pump cover.
