Engine timing gear 1300 Turbo – Fiat Uno

DISTRIBUTION

The valves are controlled by a camshaft driven by a toothed belt from the crankshaft. The gears on the camshaft and crankshaft are provided with control marks, for the exact mutual positioning of the shafts. Engine turns clockwise, when viewed from the toothed belt.

Timing phases, at the control valve clearance 0.8 Mm, are:

– opening of the suction valve 0º, closing the suction valve 40º after ZW,

– opening of the exhalation valve 30º before ZW,

– closing the exhalation valve 10º after ZZ.

Replace oily or cracked toothed belt immediately, because its tearing off means significant engine damage.

Timing setting:

– Set the camshaft and crankshaft pinions to the marks, loosen the tensioner and move it to the rear, tighten the roller slightly in this position,

– put on the toothed belt yes, that the drive cable is tight,

– loosen the tensioner and pay attention, the belt is stretched.

– tighten the tensioner and make two clockwise turns of the crankshaft,

– loosen the tensioner again and tighten it again,

– set the engine to the control marks and check the alignment of the other wheel, if necessary, repeat the adjustment.
