Head repair 1300 Turbo – Fiat Uno

Further disassembly of the head is performed as described for the engine 1300 due to the same design. The values that characterize the wear limits of individual head components are given below.

■ Parameters required for the camshaft and cam followers:

– camshaft bearing clearance 0.03…0,07 Mm,

– pusher clearance on the diameter of 0.005…0.05 Mm,

– cam lift 8,0 Mm.

If these dimensions have been exceeded (cam lift lowered), parts must be replaced.

■ Valves that are slightly worn can be sanded. The height of the edge after grinding must not be less than 1 Mm. The angle of the seat face is 45 ° 30′ .

■ Measure the valve play in the guide. The play must not exceed 0.25 Mm, otherwise the valve and guide must be replaced.

■ When checking the valve springs, obtain the following results.

Load Length

External spring 38.1 medical history 36,0 Mm

58.4 medical history 26.0 Mm

Internal spring 14.6 medical history 31.0 Mm

27.6 medical history 21.5 Mm

If the spring does not meet these requirements, it must be replaced together with the others.

■ The skew of the head can be removed on the coat grinder. However, the volume of the combustion chamber must not be reduced below 32,89 cm3. To measure the volume, insert valves and spark plugs into the cylinder head. Place a slightly greased glass plate with an opening above each combustion chamber on the contact surface of the head. Pour SAE engine oil into the chambers from the burette 20. Read the chamber volume on the burette. All chambers should have the same volume.

If the chamber volume is less than required, the chamber must be treated.

■ Use a feeler gauge to set the valve clearance, which should be:

– suction valve 0,4 Mm,

– exhaust valve 0,5 Mm.

To adjust the clearance, washers with a thickness from 3.25 mm do 4,7 Mm, graduated co 0,05 Mm.

Replacing the washers (tiles) regulatory procedures are carried out with a special tool 1860747000.
