Front axle faults

Common faults of the front axle include play in steering knuckles and play in front wheel bearings. Occasionally the axis may be bent. The play in the front wheels is checked after lifting the car or at least the checked wheel and moving the wheel axially. If you find any play, make sure, whether it is play in the steering spindle, or in the wheel bearings. Swivel pins are removed in a car service station, while the slack in the wheel bearings can be removed by the driver himself according to the factory instructions. Any shortcomings of the front axle and play in steering knuckles make it difficult to drive the vehicle, cause excessive tire wear and endanger driving safety.
