Replacing the valves of the lubrication system (engine 1,2) – Opel Kadett

Replacing the valves of the lubrication system (engine 1,2)

Oil pump reduction valve replacement method.

The method of replacing the bypass valve is described below, which is located in the flange of the oil filter bracket. This valve opens the flow of oil to the engine in the event of excessive filter contamination.

Unscrew the oil filter. Use a suitable pin to pry off the valve bushing, located on the side of the main oil channel. This operation must be done carefully, in order not to damage the contact surface of the filter. Remove the ball and spring from under the sleeve and discard them. Blow out the valve channel with compressed air. Insert new springs and ball. Press a new bushing into the socket as well, the open side of which must face downwards.
