Replacing the fuel level sensor

The fuel level sensor can be replaced when the fuel tank is installed. The sensor is unscrewed using a special Opel KM ring spanner 332-01. the four lugs must engage the slots on the sensor cover. Instead of a special key, the cover can be unscrewed with two crossed screws.

■ Raise the rear of the car.

■ Disconnect the battery.

■ Disconnect the electric wires to the fuel level sensor cover.

■ Drain the tank, as described in the previous section or by pulling off the fuel line. Drain any remaining fuel while removing the sensor.

■ Unscrew the fuel level sensor.

When installing a new sensor, do not bend the float lever or shift the sealing ring (oringu). under the cover.
